The 1st XRISM International Conference was held from October 20 to 24, 2025, at Kyoto Terrsa near Kyoto Station. Unlike the previous internal XRISM Science Team meetings, this was the first international conference open to the broader scientific community. The event brought together around 380 participants from 18 countries, including about 300 in-person attendees.
The conference aimed to review XRISM’s scientific achievements from its first two years, identify remaining challenges, and discuss strategies for future observations.
Researchers presented exciting new results on various objects, such as X-ray binaries, white dwarfs, supernova remnants, galaxy clusters, and supermassive black holes, reaffirming XRISM’s powerful capabilities. The meeting also showcased strong participation from students and early-career scientists, reflecting the mission’s vibrant and growing community.
Looking ahead, the next XRISM International Conference is planned for spring 2027 in the United States, with subsequent meetings to follow on an 18-month cycle.
The 2025 conference was supported by ISAS/JAXA, ESA, JSPS, Kyoto University, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo Metropolitan University, Ehime University, and the Society for the Promotion of Space Science.
